4.5 Stars/ Kade/ Author Jane Anthony
I had quite the push and pull relationship with this book, just like the two main characters did with each other. This was my first second chance rock star romance and I really enjoyed it. Kade was incredibly hot. My absolute favorite line in this book is how the writer described him, “He fucks like a beast but loves like a puppy.” LOVED that line. Kade is a Rock star who has been liven the dream, but deep down he’s tired of being alone and feeling unloved. The women he sleeps with want the rock star fantasy and no matter how many women throw themselves at him he hasn’t found one that makes him feel complete. Until he meets Ainsley-a jersey housewife crushed by her vindictive ex-husband who’s picking up the pieces of her life after finding out her husband had an affair.
The romance between Kade and Ainsley is a whirlwind. I couldn’t read fast enough to keep up with them. But all fun must come to an end and Ainsley has to go back home to reality and her responsibilities. Kade is crushed and comes after her, but will Kade fit into Ainsley’s complicated life? Will love withstand obstacles and distance? You have to read to find out.
Ainsley’s character did frustrate me. The woman’s back and forth emotions were an emotional rollercoaster for me as the reader; however, it shows the writer’s skills, that she was able to take my emotions right along with the characters’. When the two characters, Kade and Ainsley are together it’s shooting stars and blazing fire, but when they are apart its heartbreaking. Their chemistry is great and the sex scenes are thigh quenching.
Definitely looking forward to more from this author.
4.5 stars/ Confess / Author Reagan Phillips
Confess had a good balance of romance and mystery. A determined detective from Nashville follows a serial killer to a small town where he finds more than evidence of a crime. He finds attraction to a woman that he can’t deny, however this woman is closer to his case than he ever expected. This story has a theme of choices and every choice the characters make come with consequences that they have to face. Yet, love does influence their choices and adds complexity to an already complicated mystery.
First off, I want to say I loved the male MC, Mitch Kilpatrick. He was sexy, charming, witty, dominant and carries internal baggage from his past which has made him the man he is now. The female MC, Lacy, is a good match for Mitch. She holds her ground and is an independent female. The banter between Mitch and Lacy was natural and entertaining. I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I particularly liked that Mitch was dominant in the bedroom and took charge, I however expected more out of the sex scenes because of his dominant personality. I was a bit disappointed with the short and mild sex scenes after all the built up anticipation beforehand. I did like that Lacy was not quick to submit and made Mitch work for it.
The mystery side of the story was intriguing and kept me interested. I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. The characters and their pasts tied into each other very well. I did feel that the events toward the end happened very quickly as did the relationship between Lacy and Mitch. The end came a bit too quickly. It left me wanting to know more about one of the characters and their motives. The very end of the story again brought me back to the same feeling I had in the beginning and left me satisfied. I absolutely would read more of Reagan Phillips mystery romance books.
Secrets and Promises / Jane Anthony
5 / 5 Star Review
I had the pleasure of getting to know a fellow debut author and after reading her novel, Secrets and Promises I am now a fan.
Author, Jane Anthony writes from both the female and male perspective and I particularly enjoyed the perspective of Jameson. It was real, raw and exciting. Every time it switched back to his point of view I tingled with anticipation. The love story between these two characters is sweet, romantic and natural. Even though I only knew two songs I personally enjoyed the musical and muscle car theme that this book had, being a classic muscle car fan myself. I recommend this book for a fast paced, entertaining, romantic read. Looking forward to future novels.
Archer’s Voice / Mia Sheridan
5 / 5 Star Review
A book that pulled at my heart strings. The beginning was a slow start and I didn’t really get sucked into it until a few chapters in. Once Bree finally met Archer and stumbled onto his property that was when the chemistry and excitement really began. Archer’s character is vulnerable yet still handsome, delicious and enticing. The book description on Amazon says, “Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom.” However, I believe it is the opposite. Bree is the key to Archer’s freedom. With her ability to communicate with him she opens his silent and secluded world into a world where he finally feels love, excitement, and truly discovers himself.
There was a moment that I thought I was going to hate this book, but thankfully I kept reading and into the next chapter I went from being angry to crying happy tears. Definitely a book I recommend.
